Zélu (el-b): [Paulo Moura: Gafiera etc. & tal]

Zélu (or Zélú?) is an electric bass player, usually with the Orquestra Tabajara.

Here's my (first?) contribution to Lucky's Brazilian craze over at his blog - a craze that has already infected Bravo Juju as well. Actually, the album "Gafiera etc. & tal" that is posted here was originally uploaded by Lucky himself on his late Cut-Out blog. Thanx!

funny thing, sure is - yesterday i thought about posting "gafieira" in my "craze" (how YOU put it), but i decided against, since i already posted my moura's on cut-out. now: here it is, posted by you!

the bass player is pronounced "zélú" in the liner notes. on a quick research, this seems to be his only contribution to a commercial record... very unlikely, don't you think??? maybe he used an alias because he was on contract with another record label...

saludos

You may be right about the name thing. However, Brazilian musicians (like Brazilian football players) often use some kind of one-word artist's name, don't they? And, in this Orquestra Tabajara he also plays as Zélu (see AMG) and the Orquestra website, where you can also get some free downloads - which I have downloaded but not listened to them yet.
